Review of the National Planning Framework

Submission on NPF Issues Paper, Friday, 10 November 2023

In response to an invitation, the Executive of the Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly prepared and made a submission to the issues paper for the review of the National Planning Framework. With the submission deadline falling ahead of the members' monthly meetings, a supplementary addendum was prepared to reflect a discussion around Climate Action and forward planning.

"National efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions should be reflected strongly in the strategic choices of the revised National Planning Framework. Global action requires the NPF to coordinate regional, county, and sub-county planning choices. The clarity in the NPF will underpin the support needed to match the ambition reflected in EPA surveys and challenges outlined by the Climate Change Advisory Council."
