Councillor Pádraig McEvoy

Question

Can the council update the committee on the Safe Routes to Schools Projects in the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District?

Report

Kildare County Council Sustainable Transport section recently met with the new liaison representative from An Taisce Safe Routes to School Programme to discuss the proposed scheme for Straffan National School and are currently developing the detailed design for the proposed Safe Routes to School Scheme for Straffan National School.

Issued by: Mr. D Hodgins, Senior Engineer, Sustainable Transport Section.

Minutes of the Meeting:

CM21/1023 [Link]

"Councillor McEvoy informed the members that he had noticed at the Straffan School, cars parked against the rural hedge line, turning the school road into one lane. He made reference to the Park and Stride at Straffan GAA. He said that it was not acceptable to funnel children into this narrow space. He said that he had a lot of enquiries in relation to a programme from Clane residents and would like some clarity on this.

The District Engineer informed the members that he met the Sustainable Transport and Traffic Management Team. He advised that he would speak with Mr. D Hodgins regarding this matter.

The report was noted."
